Film Exhibition Manager

Starting: January 2024 

Part-time: 15 to 20 hours per week

$15/hr + experience

Utah Film Center is seeking an individual who is eager to learn about film exhibition, distribution, and operations around a weekly/monthly/yearly film schedule. This will be a broad, hands on introduction to the basics of internal operations and external community engagement. The ideal part time employee will be passionate about informing and exposing the community to new ideas through cinema and interested in the film industry.

The organization’s engagement, support, and supervision will be very hands-on. We are a small non-profit organization so communication, teamwork, time management, interpersonal skills, and goal setting are absolutely essential to our success. The part time employee will be fully integrated into our open office environment and will be treated equal to all other staff members.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Film Exhibition Department:

  • Program Management: Black Bold & Brilliant, Through the Lens, Summer Outdoor Film Series, and Utah Filmmaker’s Showcase
  • Festival Management: Tumbleweeds Film Festival for Kids, Damn These Heels Queer Film Festival
  • Film Programming: database management (Salesforce, Asana, Eventive, FilmFreeway), webpage creation, contact management, film research and print traffic management, requesting screeners, negotiating screening fees, invoicing, and attendance information
  • Venue/event coordination and management
  • For Hire service management: lead generation, principle meetings, budgeting, staffing, event & venue management, site visits
  • Partner with other Film Center Departments as necessary

Roles and Responsibilities of Film Exhibition Manager:  

  • Film Programming
    • Assist Director with program management responsibilities above in addition to video production and editing based on seasonality
  • For Hire Service
    • Assist with event coordination, staffing, and venue management
  • Meetings
    • Attends Programming and Staff meetings: 2 to 3 hours per week
  • Assist with in-person screening events (where available)
    • Events TBD: 4 to 5 hours per event
    • Ability to lift 35 lbs and drive a commercial vehicle are required
  • Assist with on-site management of For Hire service events (where available)
    • Events TBD: 7 to 8 hours per event
    • Ability to lift 35 lbs and drive a commercial vehicle are required

This position reports to the Director of Film Exhibition and will be evaluated on attitude, time management, quality of work, and innovation. Additionally, this position will also be evaluated on the success in meeting goals and objectives developed at the beginning of the employment period. Weekly meetings for guidance and at least two days in the office are required.
