The following six values guide the Utah Film Center’s organizational culture and programming.
Quality Education: Our programs offer learning opportunities for Utahns of all ages about media literacy, filmmaking, art appreciation, and the world around us.
Community Engagement: We have partnerships with communities around the state to expand access to arts and cultural programming that inspires imagination and fosters connection.
Belonging: Our programs highlight underrepresented stories and storytellers, encouraging kinship and connection for all.
Arts Appreciation and Cultural Enrichment: We value independent filmmaking as a fine art. We encourage audiences to appreciate the craft of cinematic storytelling and the impacts it has on how we feel, think, understand ourselves, and relate to one another.
Valuing the Artist: We believe in paying artists for their work. We value filmmaking as a career and design our artist support programs to promote growth and professional opportunity. We believe wholeheartedly in keeping filmmakers in Utah to nurture and create a vibrant, creative, and sustainable filmmaking community.
Excellence of Craft: The Utah Film Center values thoughtfully curated, world-class filmmaking and film-viewing experiences, and we dedicate ourselves to bringing those experiences to Utah audiences.
We provide unparalleled opportunities for audiences to engage with filmmakers and local luminaries. We offer educators and students opportunities to learn directly from professional artists in the classroom. We connect Utah-based independent filmmakers to filmmaking resources and provide them with the skills and tools to do the work they love.
