Utah Film Center is seeking an Outreach Manager who will manage external community engagement and act as our community liaison, building audiences and business partnerships and connecting them with Utah Film Center programs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about informing and exposing the community to new ideas through cinema. The ideal candidate is also organized, thoughtful, curious, adaptable, detail-oriented and big-picture thinker, and humble. They will have experience managing business relationships and be a great communicator, strategic thinker, and team player.
As a member of the marketing team, the Outreach Manager connects Utah Film Center with opportunities to build relationships in our community. The Outreach Manager will be expected to participate in community events as well as help table at events and functions hosted by Utah Film Center. This person will be responsible for providing customer service to and cultivating relationships with Utah Film Center community partners and potential business partners.
The Outreach Manager is vital to help carry out Utah Film Center’s vision of a more informed, engaged, and connected community. This position is a public-facing position which requires the ability to embody and communicate Utah Film Center’s mission: connecting people, stories, and ideas through film, artist support, and media arts education. This person must be able to apply Utah Film Center’s core culture of professionalism, innovation, and humility.
This position reports to the Marketing Director and is expected to contribute to collaborative marketing projects and team strategies. The working relationship of our marketing team is based on trust, positivity, support, and appreciation for the unique perspective and skills of each team member.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a community engagement, public relations, account management, outreach, sales, or business development role
- Experience in researching, vetting, and pursuing opportunities in the community to develop audiences and/or business relationships
- Confident, tactful, and enjoys talking to people and building relationships in various settings
- Exhibits professional verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency with office productivity, databases, project management, and communication tools are expected. Utah Film Center uses Asana, Slack, Google Workspace, and Salesforce, as well as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience in account management and maintaining databases with contacts and events
- Proven ability to follow processes and maintain consistent follow-up with contacts
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform targeted outreach by identifying and building relationships with key organizations and businesses
- Cultivate business support to underwrite Utah Film Center programming and to amplify promotion of Utah Film Center programming
- Promote Utah Film Center for-hire services to the business community
- Find and pursue opportunities for Utah Film Center to participate in external community events and promote the Center’s programs and events through outreach channels
- Act as a liaison with outreach partners to ensure fulfillment of agreements
- Maintain the database records of outreach contacts, interests, and engagement
- Record partnerships, donations, leads, and business relationships in Salesforce and other platforms as is necessary.
- Manage the outreach event calendar, vet tabling opportunities, and coordinate participation at events hosted by other organizations
- Attend and support a selection of Utah Film Center screenings and events
- Handle acquisition and distribution of printed outreach promotional materials such as posters or flyers
- Manage incoming requests from other organizations for donations from Utah Film Center
- Secure financial agreements with targeted businesses to meet revenue goals and offset organizational costs (may include sponsorships, donations, in-kind items, underwriting, business discounts, ad sales)
- Secure long-term relationships for alcohol/beer sponsorships
- Contribute to strategy, planning, and implementation for Utah Film Center integrated marketing and outreach plans
- Participate in activities and contribute to organization-wide responsibilities for tasks shared across Utah Film Center staff
Details, Salary, and Benefits
- Start Date: End of January 2025
- Full time (40 hours/week) paid hourly at $25/hour
- Must be located in Salt Lake County, Utah
