Happy Birthday, Utah Film Center!

A note from our Executive Director

I joined this incredible organization shortly after its 6th birthday—and now we’re turning 23!

This birthday feels extra special because we’re finally opening a brand-new facility, a dream that’s been with us since the Film Center’s inception.

Back in 2002, the founding team envisioned a place where people could explore the world through film, share ideas, and connect deeply with art, artists, and community. Since then, we’ve welcomed some remarkable guests—Phil Donahue, Danny Glover, Carrie Fisher, John Waters, Dionne Warwick, Ty Burrell, Dustin Lance Black—and dozens of Academy and Emmy Award–winning filmmakers. Each has shared their stories, wisdom, and passion with Utah audiences, leaving their mark on our history and deepening our love for cinema.

Now, we’re ready for the next chapter.

Over the past 23 years, Utah has grown up, and the world now recognizes our state as synonymous with independent film. Our new home will give us the space to welcome the next generation of icons, innovators, and visionaries—voices we can’t wait to introduce to you.

To make this vision a reality, we’re excited to publicly launch our Capital Campaign—inviting our community to help us complete and sustain this extraordinary new incubator for film and community in Utah.

Please join us in shaping the future of the Utah Film Centermake your gift today and become part of our story. Thank you for joining us in committing to support independent arts right here in Utah for years to come!
