Utah Film Center’s Media Education programs promote arts education by introducing teachers and students to the transformational power of film and filmmaking in the classroom. The sixth grade resources below are free and include film screenings, workshops, professional development, field trips, and lessons while supporting the core curriculum requirements for arts education in the state of Utah.

Examine films with a critical lens through the basics of storytelling, genre, style, cinematography, production design, sound, and editing.

The in-person option is available to the Alpine, Canyons, Davis, Emery, Grand, Granite, Jordan, Juab, Millard, Murray, Nebo, North Sanpete, Park City, Provo, Salt Lake, Sevier, South Summit, Tintic, Tooele, and Wasatch school districts. Learn the basics of storytelling in the movies, and the tools and techniques to write a story for the screen.
