2025 Impact Report

I am honored to share Utah Film Center’s 2024–2025 Annual Report. It reflects not only what we’ve accomplished, but the ecosystem we are building to support independent filmmakers, strengthen pathways for Utah artists, and be a place for discovery and exchange.

When the world feels out of step with values like human dignity, agency, and civility, we lean into community, creativity, and empathy. I feel fortunate to lead an organization grounded in these principles. They drew me to the Utah Film Center 18 years ago and continue to guide our work.

Our communities face loneliness, division, economic uncertainty, and environmental crisis. These challenges are complex, but they are shared and require shared solutions. Watching a film together remains one of the simplest ways to feel less alone. Shared cultural experiences build connection and strengthen community. In a world shaped by algorithms, we provide something increasingly rare: human curation. We prioritize exploration, dialogue, and participation, inviting audiences to actively engage in cultural conversation.

We’re intentionally building a pipeline for local talent, creating opportunities for Utah audiences to connect with the next generation of filmmakers through screenings,
conversations, and professional pathways that support sustainable careers.

This past year demonstrates what’s possible when people come together with purpose. We transformed an office building into Utah’s premier film-focused creative hub designed to support artists across the lifecycle of their work, from development to audience engagement. This was built through partnership, shared vision, and a commitment to longterm community building.
