Careers in Filmmaking

Every movie is made by a team of creative problem-solvers. In this workshop, students discover the many careers that bring stories to the screen—from directors, cinematographers, editors, and screenwriters to costume designers, sound engineers, and visual effects artists. Along the way, they’ll explore the unique skills each role requires and learn about educational pathways into the film industry, including college programs, internships, apprenticeships, and entry-level opportunities. Whether students are passionate about art, writing, technology, music, or storytelling, this workshop demonstrates how their interests can lead to exciting careers in filmmaking.
This workshop is available in-person and online via Zoom.
What to Expect –
Each 60-minute workshop includes a combination of lecture and hands-on activities. This workshop can be facilitated in a classroom setting or in an assembly setting. Please specify the room-type (classroom, auditorium, gymnasium, etc.) in the ‘notes’ section of the registration form. On the day of your workshop, the Teaching Artist will check-in at the front office before navigating to your classroom. The Teaching Artist will arrive 10-15 minutes before the workshop is scheduled to begin, and will quietly set up any needed equipment before beginning their presentation.

We love teaching multiple workshops when visiting your school and we are happy to arrange custom times that better-align with your bell schedule!
